Online Gambling Technology

Technological advancements tend to happen exponentially. Advancements that used to take decades then take years and those that used to take years take months. Each advancement makes the next advancement easier to come by, speeding the progress along. That holds true for technology within the gambling industry as well.

In the beginning, the brick and mortar casinos and pubs had 3-reel fruit machines with low payouts and table games where the cards were dealt by hand. Then we came to the weighted slot machines, followed by the electronic slot machines and the progressive video slots. The cards in table games are now shuffled by machines. Online gambling has seen similar advancements.

In the beginning, online casinos were a poor substitute for brick and mortar casinos. They were worth playing if you couldn’t get to the “real thing,” but the games were boring in comparison and didn’t have any bells and whistles. Since then, the online casino software has advanced to the point that the games have animations and bonus games, live video feeds, chat software, sophisticated algorithms that determine the outcome, and more.

The online casino games feature three-dimensional graphics that are more lifelike. The games are more like playing at a brick and mortar casino, including the recent invention of the live dealer games. Those games allow players to play at a table that has a live dealer and watch and interact with that dealer over a video feed while they play.

With the gambling technology advancing at such a fast rate, it makes you wonder what will be next. One thing is for sure: The casino industry continues to work hard to bring a more interesting and exciting version of gambling online.
